You and your team have spent a considerable amount of time learning about necessary conditions and how to overcome some of the barriers that may be preventing you from authentically engaging in professional learning communities in your school. Through your exploration and gathering of research, information, and examples, your initial thoughts about necessary conditions have most likely changed. Please take out your initial thoughts page that you completed in step two of this process. Review your initial thinking that you captured and utilizing what you have learned; document how your thinking has changed on the right side of the chart below. Compare your revisions with the revisions of your school team. As you go through this process, please keep the following questions in mind.

  1. How has your thinking changed from when you originally thought about implementing effective PLC’s?
  2. Is your thinking in line with the revised thinking of the school team?
  3. What items on the list seem to be the most pressing to address?
  4. How can you and your team use this information to help with the PLC implementation?

After you and your team complete the entire document, write a short summary that reflects the shift in thinking between your first initial thoughts and your re-thinking. Keep this information as it will be used in the next stages of the process.
