Courageous Conversations

Courageous conversations are needed in professional learning communities because teachers have differing viewpoints about a multitude of issues they face in the workplace on a daily basis. It’s inevitable in a PLC that conflict will arise based on values, beliefs, actions, behaviors, and traditions.

So what is the point of courageous conversations? To learn to listen to people who are different than ourselves. In other words, understanding how to talk about differences and dissent will produce a much stronger professional learning community.

Courageous conversations will help us find our way through the painful process of setting aside our own preconceived notions to find an answer to a problem that might actually be better than our own.
